Why Do You Like Bourbon Barrel Aging?

Is it because you like bourbon or want to like it? Is it the little sweet whiskey taste on the back end? Is it because you really want to drink wine out of whiskey glasses? Is it because you want your wine to be oaky? While this may become a style amongst the wine industry, you can’t be serious about liking it. Many moons ago, the wine industry converted from American oak to French oak because it imported to much flavor and masked the true flavor of the fruit. You know that Bourbon barrels are American oak. I do not see the conversion happening at serious wineries. It is amazing all the uses for Bourbon barrels. Wine is about the type of grape, the clone, the elevation, the climate or location, etc. It’s not about Bourbon, or sherry, or port, or rum, etc.

I am very happy not to have another component, that doesn’t bring me a better experience!
